Chef Chu's at Green Bay

Venue : Green Bay Chef Chu’s Chinese Restaurant
Date : October 18, 2005

After a long day in Door County, May + Chris and I went to Chef Chu’s restaurant. We arrived pretty late, about 8.35pm, not many people. The restaurant décor was really classy. I was very impressed with the drawing in the main wall as well as the poem above the bar counter. It is my favourite poem, hence a definite plus point to the restaurant even before we judged the food.

There was this see through glass window for the open kitchen concept and the toilets were clean, bright and modern. The chinaware and the furniture were very much in details to give its customer great ambience of Chinese dining. The only thing is there do not have a Chinese menu. I guess, not many Chinese in Green Bay will ask for a Chinese Menu when they make order, except me – the tourist.

Our waiter was from Mainland China Zhejiang Province. He was quite smart to notice that we are Malaysian. He gave us free appetizer and told us where the casinos are. From Atlantic City to Las Vegas, from Harrahs to Foxwood; he even knew that former Foxwood owner was Malaysian!!

After chatting for a while and figure out the boring life the foreign workers might have in Green Bay, I could understand that Casino or gambling for some excitement is a great past time for these people.

Although I do not know much about him nor his hobby, but from a city that does not have much excitement except American Football, casino or may be the red light district if they are legal like Amsterdam.

Anyway, I had a good dinner in Chef Chu’s restaurant. The Steam Fish was good especially the head!!
